Last year proceeds from book sales went to sending a girl to school for a year through the International Rescue Committee. This year, I am donating book and ebook sales to the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe - Dakota Access Pipeline Donation Fund! Find the ebook on Amazon and the books on PiratessTilly.com. Thank you! ~E.L.
I am so excited to share that Piratess Tilly has truly adopted a koala - Koala Wattle, who represents all of the koalas in the wild that need protection from losing their natural habitats. Proceeds from book sales will now be going towards a monthly contribution to the Australian Koala Foundation! Thank YOU for your help! To learn more, please visit savethekoala.com! And with that, Happy Australia Day!! <3 <3 <3
I donated a few books to the Galapagos Conservancy whose mission is: "... to advance and support the conservation of the unique biodiversity and ecosystems of Galapagos through directed research, informed public policy, and building a sustainable society." With each purchase from their e-gift shop, the proceeds go to "supporting the important marine and terrestrial conservation programs taking place in the Galapagos Islands." Within the first week, 2 of the 3 books were purchased and another week later, the last book was no longer listed! I am so pleased the books sold quickly to benefit the Galapagos Conservancy! Here's a a screen shot of the book listed on their page. Had I realized they would sell so fast, I would have gotten a screen shot of the actual product page as well. :)
I am so excited to announce that The Adventures of Piratess Tilly and the author, Elizabeth Lorayne, were mentioned in the local newspaper, Eagle-Tribune. Elizabeth was quoted about her experience reading to the children at the American Training, Inc. book event last week. From the printed paper:
"... 'I couldn't be more honored to have read my children's picture book to this group of enthusiastic and involved children. Hearing them excitedly respond when asked interactive questions throughout the book reading, was beyond words.' said Elizabeth.
She handed out signed copies of her book to each of the young students which as met with a sea of 'thank you's.'
'That's my new favorite book,' said Disnelson. The others students agreed.
'Any event that encourages literacy and love of reading is a great event or our kids. They're like little sponges. It was real bonus for the author herself to be here to read to them and talk to them,' said Marice DiLorenze, Academic Coach for the elementary school..."
This was a truly incredible experience! I am so thankful I was asked to participate. Please read the entire story below. It's quite heart-warming! ;)
I had my very first book reading event today! It was part of a larger cause -- a book drive for a school that has little to no library. Until now!
